About The Dover Legion
The Dover Legion was chartered 1919 and has been operating continuously in Dover ever since. It was formed in the name of George B. Preston of Dover who, at 18 years old gave his life in service of his country. Read more about him here.

For decades the legion was without a home of its own and held meetings in the current town hall. It has been operating at its current location on Dedham Street since the late 1950's when it was built by the members, most of whom served in WWI, WW2 and Korea.

Currently the members, auxiliary and its large booster organization all contribute time, materials and money in service of several charitable efforts in the community including:

  • "Toys-For-Tots"
  • College scholarships for Dover residents
  • The annual "Dover Days" celebration
  • Annual seniors dinner

Funding for these activities comes from the operation of its members and guest lounge, member and booster dues, hall rental, various fund raising activities, and by several generous sponsors. The hall is available for events ranging to over 200 people and features a private bar and kitchen facility. Please contact 508-785-9878 for more details, or email the Dover Legion.
